CALLING THE VILLAGE – Round Table: Visioning Progress in the New Year

Posted: January 7, 2012 in Uncategorized

Thanks for all of the organizations who were represented at our Village Roundtable in June, 2011! Our next steps as we start a new year is to build upon the information shared, to help build powerful collaborations and find better ways to chart our progress and successes!

At the January Round Table, Kansas African American Affairs Commissioners Jerome Williams and James Barfield, along with the KAAAC Director, Dr. Mildred Edwards will join us to introduce and share the The State of African Americans in Kansas Equity Index report. The report focuses on five areas of concern:

*Economic Opportunity and Asset Building
*Healthy and Safe Communities
*Schools and Educational Opportunity
*Criminalization and Social Justice
*Civic Engagement and Advocacy

This valuable information will set the stage for how we collaborate and work together to vision progress and success, and begin the process of channeling much needed resources into our community in 2012 and beyond.

Please add the date to your calendar! We look forward to seeing you there!!!

For more information, please contact Council Administrator Fran Jackson at 264-8921 or Queen Mother Edith Knox at 265-8511.
